Upwards of 40 percent of high school students are chronically disengaged from school, according to a National Research council report on motivation.
The National Association of State Boards of Education agrees that Students who are more motivated and engaged in their own education perform better in school.
More affluent private and public schools regularly host speakers and programs to reinforce the educational message and increase student engagement.
Less affluent and in most cases, lower performing schools lack the budget to provide these services even though they openly express a desperate need and desire for them.
Thus ironically, the very students who need motivation and inspiration most and would benefit the most, have almost zero access because their schools can’t afford it.
